Editing Answers

You can delete your answer or correct mistakes after they've been posted by using the Change your answer link:

Clicking on this link brings up a dropdown menu with two choices:

1. Edit Answer - You can fix typos or make minor changes to the wording of your answer by using this option. You'll be presented with the text of your existing answer, which you can edit just as if you were posting it for the first time. If your changes go beyond minor edits, though, the new answer will be treated as a re-write, and you'll be asked to confirm that you really want to replace your old answer with the new one. Whenever you post a re-write, users who have already rated your old answer will be able to rate the new one as well. (Any rating points gained or lost for your old answer will still contribute to your IKU.)

2. Delete Answer - This lets you remove your answer altogether. Any rating points already gained or lost will stay with you, but your answer will no longer be displayed on the question page, and it won't receive any further ratings. You can't undelete an answer, so you'll be asked to confirm this step before the answer is removed.
