Will people consider you a "slut" or "whore" if you bellydance at a restaurant?

Will people misunderstand the origin and original purpose of bellydancing and think of it more like strip dancing, partially because of the costume and sensuality?

Bellydancing is an ancient and cultured art. It's fascinating to watch, and takes a huge amount of talent. If a restaurant is hiring you to bellydance for them, chances are good that 1) it serves food from one of the same cultures that bellydancing belongs to, and the people who eat there will understand the meaning of your dancing, and 2) customers have already expressed an interest in seeing some form of cultural entertainment.

So, unless the restaurant you are bellydancing for is located directly inside a strip club, no worries! *grin* Have fun.

I don't believe people will think you are a slut just because you belly dance. If they do then that's just ridiculous because there is a complete difference between belly dancing and stripping..... one you keep your clothes on and the other you do not.

I don't think people would judge you as that at all if you are a belly dancer. People respect belly dancing as a form of dance that is culturally distinguished and do not view it as a form of sexual deviance. I would take go for it, no worries.
