For training, many of the performers go to National Circus School: http://enc.qc.ca/en/school/testimonials.asp. You can get degrees in things like Swinging trapeze, Tight Wire, Contortion, and Juggling, to name a few.

Cirque pays its performers a yearly salary ranging from $30,000 for an apprentice to more than $100,000 for an established artist.

You need to be really good at whatever it is you do (gymnastics, martial arts, acting, singing etc) - they require a certain level of expertise. Based on this, they'll train you in your field of expertise. Their training is very rigorous, usually up to 10 or 12 hours a day, but again, it's usually just in one or two fields that you are really good at.
