If you have mono, does it stay with you forever? If so, can you pass it on to people forever?

once you have mono, you can not get it again. HOWEVER, the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV--which is the infection that causes mono) lies dormant within your body forever.

You can "flare" up again (with minimal symptoms, you may think it is just a cold) and it lasts for only a few days and during this time you actually have a small chance of passing EBV onto other people.

If I remember correctly, mono is a virus-so you typically only get it once and the antibodies stay with you forever. You can't pass it on forever because there is a 24-48 hour infectious period, then you're good to be around others. Plus, I believe it is only shared through bodily liquids.
