If thats true then we dont remember the average human dream...we remember the unique dream which lasts much longer than 2-3 seconds

Actually, an average night's sleep nets about 2 hours of dreams. A person with a normal REM cycle will experience a new dream every 60-90 minutes. The average dream lasts about 20 minutes, but an individual dream can last 45 minutes. REM sleep, during which most dreaming occurs, is characterized by brain activity which distorts perceptions of reality. There are numerous theories on why and what we dream, but there is no consensus or proof that points to an exclusive explanation.

There's a 1:1 correlation between how long a dream seems and how long a dream actually happens. Real life isn't Inception.
