I think it's always beneficial to keep the delicate skin around your eyes moisturized. Not only will it help with elasticity and preventing wrinkles, it will just in general hydrate the area and make you look better. However, it's not necessary to spend a ton of money on expensive creams with wild ingredients -- just choose a moisturizing cream for the face and apply it around your eyes, including a little on the eyelids (but don't get it in your eyes). Vitamin E oil, Jojoba oil and olive oil also work and won't clog your pores.

It's always a good idea to keep the skin moisturized as dryness and cracking are what cause wrinkles to form. My grandmother started me using Oil of Olay at 13 and I still use nothing else. The results are, I'm now 42 and have no wrinkles. So yes, I would say using eye cream now is certainly beneficial.
