By today's measurements, about how much could an old VHS tape hold?

I would guess 4-5GB like a DVD. A VHS on LP could hold a couple hours of video, which is about what a DVD could hold without compression. But the qualities are different, so I don't know if that would make estimates change?

I heard around 4, myself. It's A LOT of frames to make up an hour movie.

I've heard around 5GB. Similar space compared to a DVD, but without any special features or ability to interact in any way... just a linear film strip.

I've seen estimates around 5 GB. Of course, that could differ depending on how they measured it out. It seems about right to me, since video takes up quite a bit of space and most VHS tapes could hold up to three movies with some blank tape left over.
